arts for learning lab

 

The Arts for Learning Lab (ALL) applies Young Audiences of Houston's model of inquiry-based, arts-integrated teaching and learning partnerships.

 

The program supports a learning cohort of educator and teaching artist teams through a professional development program as they form skills and tools to implement high-quality arts integration for youth. This program focuses on supplementing existing curriculum and instruction rather than supplanting.  ​

The Arts for Learning Lab is a great way for educators to:

  • Receive arts-specific professional learning

  • Connect with educators and artists throughout the state of TX

  • Collaborate on classroom implementation of new and creative instruction techniques

  • Network with artists throughout the state

The Arts for Learning Lab is a great way for artists to:

  • Collaborate on classroom implementation with educators in a real-world example

  • Network with other community artists throughout the state of TX

  • Receive specific feedback and training on developing effective lesson plans for youth

Applicants can apply as a teaching artist or school educator. A school educator is defined as an arts specialists (classroom music teachers, visual arts teachers, drama teachers, etc.), classroom educators, inclusion and special education teachers, and school/department administrators. Applicants who have an existing relationship with a teaching artist/school are encouraged to apply as a two-person team.

Applicants should have at least 1 – 5 years of experience in the field of education or arts education. Former Arts for Learning Lab fellows are eligible to apply, however new applicants will be given priority.
